Terms of Service
Please read these terms carefully before creating an account or completing a booking.
Last updated: May 21, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Jolt Ryde websites, applications, and related services (collectively, the "Platform") operated by Jolt Ryde ("we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account, completing driver onboarding, booking a vehicle, or listing a vehicle as a host, you agree to these Terms.
1. What Jolt Ryde is
Jolt Ryde is an independent online marketplace that connects drivers who want to rent electric vehicles—often Tesla models—with hosts who make vehicles available for rent. We provide booking, payment processing, account tools, and operational software. We are not affiliated with Tesla, Inc. or any vehicle manufacturer.
Unless we state otherwise in writing, Jolt Ryde is not the owner, lessor, insurer, or operator of vehicles listed on the Platform. Rental agreements for use of a specific vehicle are between the driver and the host (and any policies the host publishes for that listing), subject to these Terms and applicable law.
2. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract to use the Platform. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
The Platform supports distinct roles, including:
- Drivers — browse available vehicles, complete onboarding, create rentals, and pay through Stripe Checkout (or, when enabled, saved-card billing for weekly renewals).
- Hosts — list vehicles, set pricing, manage bookings scoped to your account, and—when onboarded—receive payouts through Stripe Connect.
- Administrators — internal operators with elevated access for support and platform management.
You may register as a driver or host through the appropriate signup flow. You must not misrepresent your identity, role, or eligibility to rent or list vehicles.
3. Driver onboarding and verification
Before booking, drivers must complete onboarding by providing accurate profile information, including legal name, date of birth, contact and address details, and driver's license information. You must affirm that the information you provide is accurate and accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy as part of onboarding.
We may use the information you submit to verify identity, eligibility, and compliance with host or market requirements. Incomplete or inaccurate profiles may block booking until corrected. Treat license and address data as sensitive; do not share account access with others.
4. Listings, bookings, and availability
Vehicle availability is determined by calendar rules on the Platform: confirmed and active rentals block overlapping dates on the same vehicle. When you start checkout, a time-limited hold may reserve the slot while you complete payment; holds expire if checkout is not finished in time.
Pricing may be quoted per day or per week depending on how the host configured the vehicle. The total charge for a rental is calculated on the server from the listing rate and your selected dates (or week count for weekly vehicles). You agree to pay the amount shown at checkout unless an administrator applies an authorized override.
Pickup, delivery, included miles, charging expectations, and handoff instructions are defined by the host in each listing or rental communications. Read listing details before you pay.
5. Payments, holds, and fees
Rental charges are processed by Stripe. For most bookings, payment is required at booking time ("pay-on-book"): creating a rental creates a pending payment that you satisfy through Stripe Checkout. Payment status and rental status update after Stripe confirms a successful charge via our webhooks.
If checkout fails or expires, the related payment may be marked failed and the rental may be cancelled when hold rules apply. Drivers are generally limited to one active checkout hold at a time.
For hosts with active Stripe Connect transfers, checkout may use destination charges so that the host receives the rental amount minus a platform application fee (default 25% unless we publish a different rate). Hosts must complete Stripe Connect onboarding and maintain an account in good standing to receive payouts; we may block certain weekly bookings when Connect is not active, as described in product rules.
Where weekly billing features are enabled, you may save a payment method for renewal of sequential weekly rentals. Off-session charges and renewal flows are subject to the same payment success, cancellation, and refund rules as one-time checkout.
You authorize us and our payment processors to charge your selected payment method for approved amounts, including retries permitted by Stripe for saved-card billing. You are responsible for any fees your bank or card issuer assesses.
Supercharger usage during an active rental is billed separately from your rental fee (whether daily or weekly). We sync Tesla Supercharger session costs from the host's Tesla account and charge your saved payment method daily while your trip is active for the Tesla session amount (including applicable taxes and idle or congestion fees) plus a 10% Jolt Ryde service fee. Your host receives the full Tesla amount. Sessions Tesla reports after the daily run may be collected in a final batch when your trip ends. Failed Supercharger charges do not cancel your rental by default, but you remain responsible for outstanding Supercharger balances.
6. Cancellations and refunds
Rental cancellation rights depend on rental and payment status. Hosts and administrators may cancel rentals through the host or admin console according to platform rules. Drivers may cancel unpaid trips from the trip detail page while the rental is still pending payment; after payment, contact the host or support for trip changes.
When a rental is cancelled before capture, open checkout sessions may be expired and payments marked failed. When a rental is cancelled after successful payment while still pending or confirmed (and not yet in an active or completed trip), the Platform may initiate a full refund through Stripe; partial refunds and cancellation fees are not part of the default product unless we or the host communicate them separately.
If payment succeeds after a rental was already cancelled, or if a calendar conflict prevents confirmation, our systems treat the rental as not confirmed and refunds may be issued automatically per operational rules. No automatic refund is applied once a trip is active or completed—those cases require manual resolution.
7. Host responsibilities
Hosts agree to:
- Provide accurate business and vehicle information and keep listings current.
- Maintain vehicles in safe, roadworthy condition and comply with applicable laws.
- Define and communicate insurance, liability, mileage, charging, and handoff requirements to drivers.
- Honor confirmed bookings except as allowed by these Terms, your policies, or law.
- Complete Stripe Connect onboarding and satisfy Stripe's requirements to receive payouts.
Hosts are responsible for their tax obligations, local rental regulations, and any permits required to rent vehicles in their market.
8. Use of vehicles and connected features
During an active rental, you must use the vehicle only as permitted by the host, these Terms, and applicable traffic and safety laws. Misuse—including reckless driving, illegal activity, smoking restrictions violations, or unauthorized subletting—may result in account suspension, charges for damage, and reporting to authorities where appropriate.
Some vehicles may support remote access or telemetry through integrations such as Tesla Fleet APIs when enabled. Access is granted only for operational purposes related to your booking and may be logged. Do not attempt to bypass vehicle security or access systems outside authorized flows.
9. Insurance and liability
Jolt Ryde does not provide insurance coverage as part of the base Platform unless we explicitly offer a separate product. Insurance, damage responsibility, deductibles, and card holds are defined by hosts and their policies. You are responsible for verifying that coverage meets your needs before you drive.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Jolt Ryde is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from rentals, host actions, vehicle condition, third-party services (including Stripe or Tesla), or events outside our reasonable control. Our aggregate liability for claims relating to the Platform is limited to the greater of (a) amounts you paid us in platform fees for the rental giving rise to the claim in the twelve months before the event, or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars (USD $100), except where applicable law does not allow such limitations.
10. Prohibited conduct
You must not:
- Violate law or others' rights while using the Platform.
- Scrape, reverse engineer, or abuse APIs except as we authorize.
- Circumvent payments, fees, or identity checks.
- Upload false documents or impersonate another person.
- Interfere with Platform security or availability.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules or pose risk to users or the business.
11. Privacy
Our collection and use of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy. Driver profiles include sensitive data such as license numbers and addresses; use the Platform only on trusted devices and report unauthorized access promptly.
12. Changes, termination, and governing law
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance. You may stop using the Platform by closing your account where that option is available; outstanding payment and rental obligations survive termination.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory consumer protections in your home jurisdiction apply. Disputes should first be raised with support at the contact below.
13. Contact
